Mars Attacks: Martian Grunts

Evening guys,

Normal update time, must admit that again this week I haven't actually got too much done. With the weather being nicer its not really the time to stay indoors painting haha.

I have however managed  to finish off 10 martian grunts, this takes me to 15 out of the 20 in the boxed game completed now:

they don't look the greatest in close ups but I'm really happy with them considering they are effectively board game pieces.

All I'm left with to paint from the core boxed game now is 5 martians, 5 US marines and about 5 human heroes.......... tantalizingly close.

I've been doing a little sculpting over the past week too, one thing I've worked on will be the subject of next weeks post so I won't show it. The other is the start of an infinity conversion:

This is the WiP of a G:Synched Order Sergeant and her Aux bot.

The conversion is based on an Auxilia model, I have started adding the details to tie her to my existing order sarges the tabard is just the core I will build upon.

Because this is one of the earlier infinity models her rifle was ridiculously oversized so I have hacked it right down and intend to resculpt it to be more inline with the other Order Sarges. This should prove quite a nice little challenge.

In other infinity news I'm trying to paint the last model from the Military orders Sectorial starter box over the next week or 2, again this will mark a big milestone of me actually finishing a full boxset.

Infinity WiPs

Afternoon guys and girls,

Its update time again. This week I have rotated back around to working on infinity, its actually the first time I've properly st down and worked on some infinity bits for a good few months.

I have 2 models to show though they are both still work in progress, first up is a Knight of Santiago:

This has been a joy to paint, though I had quite forgotten how fine the details are on the model. Still some way to go on him yet but give me a few evenings and he will be done.

Next up is a model that I've had for a long time. Back when I used to frequent the AmmoBunker forum Rasmus talked me into getting some infinity stuff to paint,I opted for the Yu Jing Imperial service sectorial starter box,

I didn't get too far with them due to being intimidated by the smaller scale, fast forward to the past few years where I got back into infinity all my effort poured into my Teutonic Knights. However this past week I dusted off a Celestial Guard and set about a test scheme:

Still a way to go on this guy and you can see the sculpt showing its age with the rather large gun. I've tried to go for a very dark and sinister scheme on them given they are basically secret police, so its a very dark jade green building up to the edge highlights.

Here he is compared to the original scheme I painted what must be 4 or more years back:

Quite an improvement to my eyes, the old scheme was too busy and the paint too lumpy. Needless to say he will be being stripped and repainted in the newer scheme.

Anyway thats it for now, I'll be back next week with these pair hopefully finished and possibly a few more bits to show :)

Infinity: Crusader Brethren

Good evening Guys,

Time for the normal weekly update, as ever it is another Infinity themed one.

I have been plodding along with my first crusader brethren, this one is armed with a HMG I also have one armed with a combi rifle in my painting queue. Bar a few finishing touches he is pretty much done:

I have really enjoyed painting this guy, think he is my current favourite of all the models I have painted so far for the game.

Entirely Infinity stuff again......

I have a meet up with Rictus and Nife rapidly approaching where we will actually be playing 40k, I have a few planned additions to my Tau mainly repainting an Ethereal and fire warrior squad that I stripped an age ago.

I keep getting them out to paint and literally managing 5 or 10 minutes on them before getting bored and going back to whatever infinity or deadzone model I am currently working on. Mean while Rictus is blazing away on his Daemons, the speed of his painting has begun to scare me haha.

I have said it before but I will say it again I seem to have lost all interest in GW stuff, it barely motivates me to actually want to convert or sculpt anymore, something which used to be a huge part of the GW side of my hobby time.

Times change I guess, seems boardgames and skirmish games have become more my thing

Infinity: knights #3

Evening Guys,

This update is a day later than normal so my apologies.

This update sees my return to infinity after a break to work on deadzone. I'm Plodding away slowly on my PanO stuff. Below are some WiPs:

First up my near finished magister knight, he just needs a bit more tidying up and a base making:

Next up is one of the models I've picked up as part of my plans to expand the PanO force in Operation Icestorm. The force will be the generic PanO list to give me more variety than my more specialized Military Order force.

So we have a sneaky Hexas with a sniper rifle, love the sculpt. She is still rather WiP:

Thats it for now, a rather short update. I will be back over the weekend with a bit of scatter terrain and a few more WiP Infinity bits.

WIP - Infinity Knights #1

Well I've kept my promise (That'll teach you Sheep ;) ), here is the first of what I hope will be weekly posts on what I have been up to hobby wise.

This week its focusing on some stuff I have had sitting around for a while but have been too scared to attempt to paint incase I ruined such nice models. That being Infinity more specifically the Pan Oceania Military Orders starter set.

Now I also have a Yu Jing set too and I will get around to them soon hopefully. For now I was struck by an itch to paint something the other day and dropped on the box. I decided screw it might as well attempt to paint them so here are my WIP results thus far:


Teutonic Knight:

This guy is nearing completion. I wanted to try something different to the blue armour that the models on the box had so opted fro green. He has been an experiment as its one of the first models I have actually painted over a white basecoat.

I'm actually pretty pleased with the freehand and armour. I still need to darken his base down further so as it doesn't blend in with his tabard too much. A big thanks to that fiendish Dane Rasmus for that suggestion on skype.


Order Sergeant:

There are 4 of these guys in the box so this one has been the test bed for my scheme for them. I have opted to attempt poorly may I add digital camo on his fatigues. This again is to give a bit more realism to him (as real as space knights in power armour can be) he is farm more heavily WiP than the teutonic knight but hopefully you will get an idea of the scheme.


I have been really enjoying painting these guys, so much so I ordered a few bits to go with em, one of which will mark my first attempt at converting an infinity model, wish me luck haha.
