INQ28: Slaaneshii Dark Mechanicus WiPS

Evening guys and girls,

Apologies for my prolonged absence in between being busy and not really having much to post I have neglected this place.

The sculpting muse has returned to me a bit of late and I've been able to do a little work on a few bits.

The INQ28 muse has also returned some what which has let me do some work on one of my more recent ideas which was a dark mechanicus warband. Some of you will remember the gluttony inspired Magos I was working on before, He is still on going, I have however been working on a sidekick for him:

She is rather WiP still and one of the more involved conversions I have attempted in quite a while. concept wise she was inspired by this artwork:

Concept wise she is more of the traditional Slaanesh as seduction/perfection. The open robes will show glimpse of her mechanical torso so polished silver. So where as a human servant of Slaanesh may show off  sculpted muscles and the perfect body she will instead be showing off master crafted bionics.

Her head is actually a face stapled on top of her bionics that will be painted quite pale, She has a neuro toxin gauntlet on her one arm and I need to sort out a weapon for the topp of the staff. The snake itself will be cut off and used on the model as a mechanical pet.

I plan on adding a small servo arm to her and a bit more slaaneshii bling and artifice. A lot of the them will likely come over more in the paint job.

I'm rather proud of her but I feel a bit rusty sculpting wise so theres some areas that will need a second pass.

I'm currently planning out some minions to accompany her and the magos. Likely some skitarii types and such. I'm open to any suggestions so feel free to fire away.

Thats it for now, I shall hopefully be back next week :)

  4. Very cool concept. I think she should have some form of energy weapon on the staff that would somehow deactivate the pain sensing nerves of cyborgs.

In the 40k universe cybernetic implants like those used by the mechanicum would cause constant extremely debilitating pain that would drive the cyborg insane and likely suicidal. The Mechanicum disables their pain receptors and/or replace the portion of their brain that processes and experiences pain as a normal human does.

A VERY Slaneeshi concept for a dark Mechanicum weapon would be to design some kind of weapon that somehow restore and even amplify an untainted cyborg's ability to sense pain.

This could be a theme that extends to the other members of the warband. I'd also say that it would provide excellent contrast if she is the only "pure of form" member of the warband.

For henchmen/women I think of an inscense carrier (power flail) and someone with tainted oils. These two ceaselessly strive to anoint her form with oils, polish it, and overall would dote over her obsessively. They would react with insane violence to any threat to her as well as against anything which displeases her.

Then there would be a cruel taskmaster to punish the "polisher" and "annointer", so someone with a taser goad or a power whip.

Lastly she would need actual protectors. Personally for my dark Mechanicum I've been mixing in some hyper muscular models along with super mechanical ones, as the Mechanicum does embrace and use both freely. So a massively muscled skitarii with heavy armaments would be a good enforcer as well as a lithe mechanical one.

A base I've used for massively muscled models successfully is the beastman Minotaur kit. Add the ablative armor plates from the new combat servitor kit and sculpt pants and boots on and they work really well. It's easy to add a smaller head to them as well.

For the lithe enforcer I'd recommend the duststalker kit. The best thing with this kit is that it's easy to add lots of arms to it, I've made a 4 armed skitarius with it that looks quite awesome.

So those are my recommendations, great work so far.

    1. Some very good ideas there, I had though of giving her an energy weapon in her staff very much inspired by the old stargate weapons.

The idea of the device to enable pain receptors is brilliant, I'm trying to think of a way of representing it maybe intergrate it into the staff weapon.

I have gathered together some bits including some bionics from anvil industries in preparation for the henchmen I have had my eye on the ruststalkers kit for it too so may well have to take the plunge. For the muscled type I have got a fantasy ogre and also the plastic savage orc warboss as potential candidates.

You've given me plenty of good ideas there sir so thank you very much, I think I'll brainstorm some of them more and figure out how to make some of them :)

  5. Heck of a model mate! I think you've transitioned the model into the 40k universe damn well, good job. And a very interesting concept too.
That's the best part of inq28, letting talented chaps like you off the leash model-wise. :-)

    1. Cheers sir, still feels odd sculpting and I can't sit doing it for as long as I once did.

You should get back to your experiments with INQ28 well after you get your act together and sort out those Dark Elves ;)
